Registration

Q: Do I need a Paypal account to sign up?
A: Having an active, usable Paypal account is a requirement for Kei Market. Kei Market sellers and buyers use Paypal to send and pay for invoices, so having an active Paypal address is a requirement for registration. After you purchase a listing, your Paypal email will be provided to the seller for invoicing purposes.

Creating Listings

Q: How do I create a listing?
A: Using the menu above, select the ‘Create Listing’ option. This will take you to a page where you can select the duration of your listing. For the most part, the listing types are all identical, except for the duration of the listing. You can choose from 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days duration. For auctions, it is recommended that the listing duration lie between 3 and 7 days for best results. 30-day duration auctions are more recommended for long-term sales. After selecting your duration, fill out the listing form to submit your item to the marketplace.
Q: What pictures do I need to put on my listing?
A: You need at least one picture for each listing. At least one picture should be your own photo/proof photo. Preferably have an item or piece of paper with your username on it, though it is not required. It will make buyers feel much more comfortable. Pictures should be less than 2 MB in size to prevent upload issues.
Q: Domestic and International Shipping fields– what should I put?
A: If you are comfortable with charging a flat-rate for Domestic and International shipping, you are welcome to put your shipping price there. Otherwise, you can also leave a note regarding your shipping, whether you ship to only certain countries, or if buyers need to contact you for individual quotes. You can also mark it for free shipping.
Q: What should I select in the condition field?

New With Tag: Self-explanatory, Item must be in new condition with tag and/or packaging included. Item must be unworn, original sales condition.

New Without Tag: Many sellers like to mark items as new without tag if the item is in good condition, but the item MUST BE unworn and unwashed to be considered New Without Tag. The item may have been tried on, but never worn for longer durations.

Like New: Item is worn 1-2 times and well taken care of. Item must never have been stained or flawed in any way previously.

Very Good: Item has been worn rarely, and condition of item shows very few signs of wear or aging. Item must be undamaged.

Good: Item has been worn, and condition of item shows some signs of wear or aging, minimal piling and such. Item must be undamaged.

Minor Damage: Examples of minor damage include: minor stains, small flaws or misprints, small rips or tears, modifications that are well made and do not detract from the appearance of the garment significantly.

Major Damage: Examples of major damage include: large stains or bleaching, foul odors, large scratches or marks, large flaws or rips, major modifications that detract from the garment appearance.

Bidding/Purchasing Listings

Q: Why can’t I bid X amount?
A: There could be multiple reasons why you are unable to place a bid of a certain amount, but one of the most common reasons is that your bid is not above the minimum bid amount. Kei Market implements a minimum bid increment of $1.00. If the listing price is $5.00, you must bid $6.00 at least, for your bid to be considered.
Q: How much is shipping for the items?
A: Please check each seller listing for their own terms regarding international and domestic shipping. Some sellers do not ship internationally, so please do not bid if you see that notice on their listing. Buyers who unknowingly bid on items that cannot be shipped to their country will be found at fault for causing disruptions in the auctions, and may receive negative feedback. Please review all terms of an auction before bidding or buying, including the seller terms tab.
Q: I have a question– how do I contact the seller?
A: You can contact the seller by leaving a comment on the listing, or sending a private message to the seller. The seller will receive notifications on all comments or messages.
Q: I put in a bid and was immediately outbid– what does this mean?
A: Kei Market uses a similar system as Ebay and many other auction sites. When you place a bid, your actual highest bid amount is hidden from the seller and other bidders, until someone else places a bid that is higher than your current bid. Your current bid will be bumped up each time someone else places a bid until it reaches your highest bid. If you place a bid and are immediately outbid, this means that your highest bid is lower than someone else’s existing highest bid, and you were immediately outbidded.

Example: Item with a start price of $5.00
Buyer A: Places a bid for $10.00
~ Item Current Price is shown to be $6.00
Buyer B: Places a bid for $7.00
~ Buyer B is immediately outbid by Buyer A’s original bid, and Item Current Price is shown to be $7.00
Buyer B: Places another bid for $10.00
~ Buyer B is immediately outbid by Buyer A’s original bid, and Item Current Price is shown to be $10.00
Buyer B: Places another bid for $15.00
~ Buyer B finally outbids Buyer A and the Item Current Price is shown to be $11.00

Payments and After Sale

Q: How does Kei Market handle payments?
A: The quick answer is that Kei Market _DOES NOT_ handle any payments. Kei Market provides the platform for the seller to reach a buyer via listings and contact methods like the messaging system. It is the buyer and seller’s responsibility to arrange for invoicing and payment after the listing ends. Kei Market assumes NO responsibility over any of the monetary transactions.
All purchases placed through Kei Market are shipped directly from the seller to the buyer party. Please contact the individual you are dealing with first with any order questions before reaching out to Kei Market admins.
Q: How do I pay a seller/invoice a buyer after a listing is over?
A: After a listing ends, sellers are provided with the buyer’s Paypal address they provided on registration. They are instructed to contact the buyer to confirm the final amount and invoice the buyer. Once the buyer pays the invoice, the seller ships the item and the transaction is complete. Kei Market highly discourages any transaction where payments are made as a personal gift for both the buyer and seller’s protections.
Q: How do I leave feedback?
A: Kei Market allows buyers and sellers to leave feedback after they have received their items or payment. To do this, go to http://www.kei.circlly.com/my-account/. My Account > My Bidding History, OR My Account > My Listings to see a list of auctions you have won or sold. You can click on the Leave Feedback button to leave feedback for your seller or buyer (a field for input should appear above). When a buyer leaves feedback for a seller, the auction is marked Finished and the Listing is filed under “Sales History” or “Completed”.
Q: Why can’t I leave feedback/where is the leave feedback button?
A: Go to http://kei.circlly.com/my-account/ . My Account > My Bidding History OR My Account > My Listings. If a buyer has left feedback for a seller, the transaction will move to the “Sales History” tab or the “Completed” tab. Please check all your tabs before contacting an admin.
Q: What if I have a non-paying buyer or scam/non-delivery seller?
A: Buyers who reportedly pull out of purchased listings for no valid reasons will be recorded. Kei Market has a 3-strikes policy, and any buyers that commit an offense of non-payment three times over the course of a single year will be banned. Kei Market has a no-tolerance policy against scammer sellers. Depending on the severity of the situation, Kei Market may ban any seller who commits such a fraud, even if it is a single offense. Any buyers or sellers that encounter scammers or deadbeats are encouraged to file a report immediately for the safety of the community. Kei Market also strongly suggests that any buyer dealing with a scamming seller to open a dispute with PayPal immediately. You get 180 calendar days from the date of your PayPal payment to open a dispute, so be sure to do this if you have not heard from your seller. Please familiarize yourself with the PayPal buyer and seller protection.
Q: Why aren’t you answering my questions/emails?
A: Our team of moderators consist of volunteers that are not compensated in any way for their time. We do our best to get back to you in a timely manner, but please keep in mind that our moderators have to go through hundreds of listings per day.
Emails will be responded based on moderator availability M-F between 8 AM to 5 PM US Eastern time.

Terms and Conditions for Kei Market

1.) Kei Market and its administrators are by no means responsible for any consequences resulting from the sale of an item through this site. This includes, but is not limited to stolen items, lost money through scams or bad sellers, lost value due to misrepresentation of items, and any other behaviors by unscrupulous sellers and buyers. By using Kei Market, users absolve Kei Market administrators and webmasters of any responsibility of indemnification for losses.

2.) Paypal is the required method of payment on Kei Market. Any other method of payment (cash in mail, etc) is not encouraged or supported by Kei Market. Paypal personal payments are not permitted, and fees must be paid by the seller, not by the buyer as a surcharge. Violation of these rules could result in removal of listings or disabled accounts.

3.) Buyers and sellers are responsible for arranging their own payment invoices and arranging for payment privately after completion of the auction. Kei Market does not provide any form of payment or invoicing portal on site.

4.) Kei Market is a marketplace for J-Fashion items in saleable condition. Any items that do not conform to this standard of quality may be removed at any time without notice. Any listings deemed to contain inappropriate, incomplete or false information, lacking photos or important information may be removed at any time without notice.

5.) Kei Market reserves the right to ban or restrict users with poor feedback or sales history from accessing or using the marketplace.

6.) By bidding or purchasing a listing, buyers are understood to have made a commitment to purchase the item at the sale price, and also pay for any applicable shipping fees that may apply. Buyers are also understood to have read the entirety of the item listing and be familiar with any additional terms or conditions of the item.

7.) (01/29/14) Buyers that consistently fail to follow through with purchases and bids will be banned from Kei Market. As of 01/29/14, Kei Market will be using a four strikes system. Any buyers that are reported to “pull out” of purchases without valid reasoning four times (will be banned on fourth offense) in the course of one year will receive a ban from Kei Market. Buyers are encouraged to carefully consider purchases before bidding and work with sellers to try to complete transactions.

Privacy and Advertisement Policy

The following language is regarding the use of Google Adsense units on the site as of May 19th, 2014.

Kei Market is for Buying and Selling, Trades/Swaps Prohibited

Kei Market supports buying and selling with Paypal payments (Goods and Services). Swaps, trades and other types of listings that do not involve the direct sale of an item are not allowed.

Replicas: Prints and Logos BANNED, Design OK

As of 01/06/14, print replicas are not permitted for sale on Kei Market. Any auctions created prior to this effective period will be allowed to run to completion, but the listing of print replicas will not be permitted after this date. Kei Market defines a print replica as any garment that contains a visual image, logo or print that is copyrighted by a brand and manufactured without permission. This includes writing with the name of the brand.

Solid color design replica garments are permitted, given that they do not contain any copyrighted graphics or prints. Replica garments manufactured with the intent of being identical to an existing brand design (e.g. Secret Shop Tea Party Shoes) must be clearly stated to be such in the listing title and description, and branded as a ‘Design Replica’.

Listings that do not conform to this standard will be immediately removed without warning. Sellers that are found to engage in purposefully deceptive or misleading behavior with regards to the sales of design replicas will be banned without warning.

Photos and Image Requirements: 1 Proof Photo Min. Photo must be original photo of item IN HAND

1.) All listings must contain at least one picture. At least one photo must be a non-stock photo image, ideally a proof photo with username included. Photos should be of decent quality, less than 2MB, and accurately describe the state and condition of the garment.

– All listings must be of items that are actually owned by the author of the listing. Items in transit, on reservation, with a shopping agent, etc– are NOT allowed for sale, as they are not actually owned and proof photos are invalid.

– Proof photos generally should be in-focus with decent listing that clearly shows the item you are listing. Please crop or circle as necessary for photos with multiple items.

– Your proof photos should be out of the bag and show the entirety of the item. For a garment, it should show from the collar/straps all the way down to the hem of the skirt, then from shoulder to shoulder. You must show all components of the garment/item (e.g. collar, waist ties, choker, detachable bow) or state that those items are missing. 04/17/23 UPDATE: Items that are factory/store-sealed and NEW WITH TAG are exempted to the Out of Bag/All Components rule. If any flaws or stains found on the item by the buyer after sale, the seller will be 100% responsible for inaccurately reporting an item as 'new with tag', which should be flawless by definition.

– The color must be accurate to your description (if your item says white but your photo is pink, please retake your proof photo).

– Listings with poor photos or lacking proof photos can be reported, removed and asked to revise.

Accepted Brand Items ALLOWED

High Quality Offbrand/Handmade/Indie ALLOWED, NO MORE THAN 3 ACTIVE LISTINGS PER ACCOUNT

2.) All clothing items for sale must be directly relevant to J-Fashion, or belong to a brand that has a well-established reputation of consistently producing J-Fashion clothing.

Items that are not from an accepted brand (available on the brands list when listing an item) are considered Offbrand, Handmade or Indie. These items are permitted for listing if they are of (1) acceptable quality, (2) relevant, and (3) if no more than 3 items may be actively listed per account.

If you have any questions regarding the permissibility of an item, please contact a moderator in advance. The moderators will keep the first three items posted in the combined categories and delete the others without warning.

4.) Sellers may not state in their policies or listings that Paypal or any other payment service fees are extra fees that are “covered by the buyer” or tacked onto the final price of an item. These fees must be paid by the seller, and included as a part of their listing price. Please adjust accordingly. Any listings created after August 1, 2014 are subject to this rule.
